Global pop sensation Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the tech giant of using her image on television packaging without permission.

According to reports, the lawsuit was filed on May 8, 2026 , in a California federal court. The singer alleged that Samsung used a copyrighted backstage photograph taken during the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival on the packaging of its Crystal UHD television boxes. The image reportedly appeared alongside promotions for Samsung TV Plus and the XITE Hits music channel, creating the impression that the singer was officially endorsing the products.

The complaint claims that several customers believed Dua Lipa was associated with the television brand because of the packaging. One social media user allegedly posted that they would purchase the television “just because Dua is on it,” a statement that has now become part of the legal argument highlighting the commercial impact of her image.

The singer further alleged that Samsung continued to use the image despite receiving demands to stop. She has accused the company of profiting from her popularity, brand value and public image without authorization. Along with at least $15 million in damages, the lawsuit also seeks profits earned from the alleged misuse as well as legal fees.

Dua Lipa is one of the biggest international music stars of the current generation, known for chart-topping hits such as “Levitating,” “Don’t Start Now,” and “Dance The Night.” Over the years, she has built a massive global fan base and established herself as a major fashion and entertainment icon. Her growing influence in music, advertising and pop culture has made her image highly valuable for commercial endorsements.

The legal battle is expected to draw major attention from both the entertainment and corporate worlds, especially as disputes involving celebrity image rights and brand endorsements continue to rise in the digital era.
